Poe Elementary in Pullman Earns National Blue Ribbon School Recognition

ALDERMAN ANTHONY BEALE, Poe Elementary School Principal Eric R. Dockery and Representative Elgie Sims, Jr. (D-34th District) joined Mayor Emanuel, CPS officials, students and their parents honoring Pullman’s Poe Elementary School for being named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education on September 28, 2017.

The high academic performance of a diverse population of students from Edgar Allen Poe Elementary School garnered the first-ever National Blue Ribbon award for a CPS elementary school on the city’s South Side. Poe Elementary is one of only 16 public schools in Illinois and 342 schools nationwide to be honored with this distinction in 2017.
